Prof. Özlem Sandıkcı

Prof. Özlem Sandıkcı teaches marketing at the Faculty of Business Administration, Bilkent University, Turkey. She received an MBA in International Business from Birmingham University, UK and a Ph.D. in Marketing from the Pennsylvania State University. Her research addresses socio-cultural dimensions of consumption and focuses on the relationship between globalization, marketing, and culture. Her current research interests include the Islamic consumptionscape, identity-space-consumption interaction, and branding in emerging markets. Her work is published in Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Business Research, Business History Review, Fashion Theory, Journal of Islamic Marketing, Place Branding and Public Diplomacy, and Advances in Consumer Research. She authored several book chapters and case studies, and participated in several research projects. She is the lead editor of the Handbook of Islamic Marketing (Edward Elgar, 2011). In 2003, she received the Franco Nicosia ACR Competitive Paper Award and in 2010 the Global Islamic Marketing Conference Best Paper Award. She was visiting professor at York University, Schulich School of Business in Toronto, Canada and Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.
